Nearly 700 People Rally in Downtown Orlando for Dr. Anna V. Eskamani’s Mayoral Campaign Kickoff

Orlando, FL – Nearly 700 supporters packed The Beacham on Monday night for Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani’s official campaign kickoff for Mayor of Orlando. On February 24th, in one day, Eskamani raised over $40,000 from 1,100 individual contributions, with an average contribution of $32. The kickoff event itself raised more than $82,000 towards her Mayoral bid.

In addition to funds bring raised, the event brought together a diverse coalition of Orlando residents, community leaders, and elected officials, all rallying behind Eskamani’s vision for a more inclusive, transparent, and people-powered city government. 

MCed by Ricardo Williams, the evening featured remarks from Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10), Rep. LaVon Bracy Davis (HD-40), Rep. Johanna López (HD-43), Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith (SD-17), Andrea Montanez, Echo King, and Mr. Norris, Eskamani’s AP Government teacher. Attendees were also treated to performances by artists from The Renaissance Theatre and a Lion Dance performed by the WAH LUM Temple.

“This campaign is about building a city that works for everyone, where no one is left behind,” said Anna V. Eskamani. “Orlando deserves a Mayor who leads with courage, compassion, and a commitment to the people—not special interests. Seeing this incredible crowd tonight, full of folks from all walks of life, reminds me why I’m in this fight. We’re going to bring bold and fresh leadership to City Hall, and we’re going to do it together.”

The event marks the beginning of a grassroots movement that will engage Orlandoans in every neighborhood. Community members are encouraged to participate in the Orlando Future’s Survey to share their vision for the community. Learn more here.
