Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani Files to Run for Mayor of Orlando

Local Elected Officials Have Already Endorsed her Candidacy With Press Gaggle Hosted at 8:30am Today

Orlando, FL:
This morning, Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani will officially file to run for Mayor of Orlando! The 34-year-old Orlando-born and locally raised elected official, who made history with her first campaign in 2018, is ready to bring her people-centered approach to public service to Orlando’s City Hall.

Her decision to file for Orlando Mayor has already been met with early endorsements from Congressman Maxwell Frost, State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith, State Representative LaVon Bracy Davis, State Representative Johanna Lopez, Orange County Commissioner Dr. Kelly Semrad, State Attorney Monique Worrell, Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph, Orange County School Board Member Stephanie Vanos, former State Senator Victor Torres and wife Carmen Torres.

“Running for Mayor of my hometown is the honor of a lifetime,” said Representative Eskamani. “Orlando is where I grew up, went to school, and started my first job. It’s where my working-class immigrant parents saw an opportunity for their children and where I discovered my purpose after losing my mom to cancer at just 13 years old. In 2027, Orlando faces a pivotal moment. And with so much uncertainty at the national level, we need a people-centered leader with the courage to challenge the status quo and the vision to deliver bold, creative solutions to address our community's everyday challenges — from homelessness and public safety to small business support and affordability. These issues are complex, but through grit, grace, and a relentless work ethic, I know I am the leader Orlando needs to move us forward into the future.”

Press are invited to join Representative Eskamani and supporters outside City Hall today at 8:30am.

Representative Eskamani currently serves in the Florida House of Representatives, where she was first elected in 2018. She recently won re-election to her fourth and final term, which will end in November 2026. While in the State House, she has championed crucial issues centered on lifting up all Floridians, secured millions of dollars for her district, and become a leading voice in many policy arenas, including tax breaks for consumers. By working across the aisle, she permanently eliminated the sales tax on children’s diapers and adult incontinence products, saving money for working families and seniors across the state.

Representative Eskamani and her team will announce upcoming Mayoral campaign events and additional endorsements in the weeks, months, and years to come. She also encourages fellow Orlandoans to participate in her Orlando’s Future Survey. This short questionnaire offers residents the opportunity to express what they want to see in Orlando’s future; answers will be analyzed and integrated into Representative Eskamani’s policy agenda. It will be available soon on her website.
